Rotherham v Southampton

Rotherham will be without defender Mark Lynch for their Carling Cup clash with Southampton at the Don Valley Stadium.
Lynch was forced out of the action at the end of Saturday's home win over Luton with a dislocated a shoulder, so replacement Jamie Green is expected to start.

Marc Joseph is still nursing a knock, but Millers manager Mark Robins has no other new injury or suspension problems for the third-round clash.

Striker Mark Burchill was dropped to the substitutes' bench on Saturday and Ryan Taylor left out altogether, so Robins must decide whether to recall one or both against Southampton or retain Drewe Broughton alongside Reuben Reid.

Defender Stephen Brogan, who is working his way back from a broken leg, remains the Millers' only long-term absentee.

Michael Svensson could return to the Southampton squad.

Svensson has been suffering some discomfort in the knee which sidelined him for the best part of four years until his playing comeback this season, but he has seen a specialist and has been given the all-clear to return.

Boss Jan Poortvliet may prefer to hold Svensson back until the league trip to Doncaster on Saturday, but with fellow centre-halves Oliver Lancashire and Wayne Thomas missing, the Swede could be drafted in.

Lancashire serves the final game of his three-match ban while Thomas has been ruled out until the new year with a knee injury.

Morgan Schneiderlin (hamstring) and Lloyd James (arm) are doubts while Lee Holmes (knee) and Jason Euell (shoulder) are long-term absentees.
